Artist’s Statement

Art as a Journey of Discovery

I believe art is an invitation—to explore, to feel, and to see the world in a new way.

My work is inspired by the freedom of birds, the beauty of the natural world, and the mystery found in the spaces between what we see and what we imagine.

I am drawn to the unexpected—the moment when color, movement, texture, and form come together to reveal something that wasn't there before. My art is not simply about capturing what I see; it is about discovering what is possible.

 

Artist’s Bio

Born in New York City, Christine Picior’s creative journey began long before she formally called herself an artist. From an early age, she was drawn to the power of art and self-expression. As a teenager, she could often be found in Washington Park in New York, sketching portraits and observing the people and life around her. Those early experiences nurtured her love of storytelling through images and planted the seeds for a lifelong creative journey. Along another path of discovery and learning, Christine earned her Doctor of Naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health, deepening her appreciation for nature, life, and the human spirit.  Christine recently earned her Master of Arts from the Milan Art Institute.

Christine’s life has been enriched by extensive travel and a deep curiosity about the world. Throughout her journeys, she has delighted in exploring museums, experiencing different cultures, and absorbing the beauty, history, and artistry found around the globe. These experiences have broadened her perspective and continue to influence her artistic voice. Working in oil, acrylic, inks, acrylic mediums, and watercolor, as well as creating art from gourds, she embraces the freedom of experimentation and allows each medium to bring its own unique voice to her work. Her style moves between Abstract Realism and abstraction, creating images that invite the viewer to look beyond what is immediately visible.

Today, Christine lives and creates in Mesquite, Nevada, where the natural world has become an endless source of inspiration. From her studio window, she is surrounded by remarkable wildlife—great horned owls, hawks, quail, roadrunners, hummingbirds, familiar yard birds, and even coyotes. These daily encounters with nature often find their way into her imagination and her art. Yet her spirit remains that of an explorer. She hopes to continue traveling, discovering new places, and experiencing the magnificence of this extraordinary world—always searching, always wondering, and always finding inspiration in the beauty that surrounds her.
